Friends of the Poor Scranton
The mission of Friends of the Poor is to ease the burden of living in poverty and enhance the quality of life for all who live in low-to-moderate-income communities. Founded by Sister Adrian Barrett, IHM, in 1986 and sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Scranton, Pennsylvania, the ministry brings together in friendship those who have the desire to give with those who are in need of assistance. Friends of the Poor is a nonprofit charitable organization.

Marley's Mission is a nonprofit organization that provides equine-based therapy free of charge to children, and their families, who have experienced trauma. Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) has shown evidenced-based efficacy in patients who have experience abuse and now suffer with depression, anxiety, and other symptoms as a result of abuse. Research and observational findings have shown EAP yields a variety of psychotherapeutic benefits such as confidence, self-efficacy, self-concept, communication, anxiety reduction, and, most important, trust.
Toys for Tots
The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources—our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.
Make-A-Wish grants the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition in the United States and its territories, on average, every 38 minutes. We believe that a wish experience can be a game-changer. This one belief guides us. It inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve.
Debbie Darling Belenski passed away to a brain aneurysm in October 2012. Debbie was known for her larger-than-life heart and compassion for others. She was an inspiration to everyone she met as she always lent an ear or a hand to whoever needed it. This event is a fund-raiser in which the proceeds will be used to purchase and fill backpacks with much-needed items for students from need-based families.
Habitat for Humanity
A nonprofit, Christian housing ministry that believes that every man, woman, and child should have a decent, safe, and affordable place to live. Habitat for Humanity builds and repairs houses all over the world using volunteer labor and donations.
